Why did we decide to build our own platform? Couldn't we just use an open source project? And why are we managing our own infrastructure?
The reason for this is quite simple: 8 years ago a solution wasn't being offered for the long term goals we had in mind. We wanted to give people the ability to build and manage their projects in an online environment without the need for developers. And we wanted to provide full flexibility in conversion optimization and e-business. We knew that if we were going to be able to provide the flexibility, speed, and reliability that we envisioned, we would have to build it ourselves. Open source was not an option. And, because our ideas about our platform are so unique, managing it on our own infrastructure was fundamental.
This is why we created Pagebuilds.
In order to free people from the technical side of our online tools, we built Pagebuilds as a Saas solution. SaaS means Software as a Service. We see Saas as the future, because its what users and business owners want:

A provider that manages the technical aspects of the tools, so users can focus on their campaigns and projects, and therefore, their work
Prices and subscriptions are monthly based
Hosting, backups and upgrades are standard included
Both founders of Pagebuilds, Ruben Leusink and Hilmar Meijer, have extensive knowledge about the world called the Internet. Where one is specialized in infrastructure, information management and conversion optimization, the other is specialized in software development and software solution scalability. When they started to combine their specialisms, a unique combination came out, resulting in Pagebuilds: An online platform, hosted on it's own redundant and international infrastructure, based on it's own written and designed codebase, where everyone can connect in a professional way.
